Favorite Fall Varieties

Now is the time to start thinking about seeds for fall gardening.

It might sound early, but some of our most important fall crops need to be started while it's still blazing hot outside. In just a few weeks, I'll be sowing broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and other cool-season vegetables indoors. I'm even planting pumpkins this weekend because larger varieties need a longer growing season than most people realize.

The good news? This is also one of the best times of year to buy seeds. Gardeners in much of the country are wrapping up their growing season, so many seed companies begin offering excellent sales.

To help you decide what to order, I've put together a new blog post featuring some of my favorite vegetables and flowers for fall, including varieties that have performed best in my North Texas trial gardens over the past several years.

Inside you'll find:
• Some of my favorite fall varieties
• Where to buy them
• Tips for successful summer seed-starting
• The two things I recommend doing before fall planting season arrives

And if you're ready to make this your best fall vegetable garden yet, enrollment in The Dallas Garden School includes my complete Indoor Seed-Starting course plus our upcoming live online class, Best Ever Fall Vegetable Garden, on Saturday, July 18. We'll cover exactly what to plant, when to plant it, and how to get the biggest harvest possible this fall.

I hope to see you in class!
