Celebrate Texas Native Plant Week with 30% Off

Happy Texas Native Plant Week!

I'm celebrating with a special sale. Save 30% on ALL 2024 classes you may have missed.

Texas Native Plant Week was established in 2009 to raise awareness about the importance of native plants in our landscapes.

Native plants are well adapted to our environment, require less water and care, and help maintain the natural balance of our local ecosystems.

By incorporating native plants, we can support wildlife, conserve resources, and keep Texas beautiful.

If you’re looking to add some easy-to-grow natives to your garden, here are a few of my favorites:

  • Texas Rock Rose: Probably my #1 favorite, this hardy shrub in the mallow family blooms with beautiful pink flowers spring through fall and is perfect for full sun spots, providing vibrant color with minimal care. For best results, shear it back by 50% or more in early spring and again in July.
  • Turk's Cap: A hummingbird magnet, Turk’s Cap is an easy way to bring color to dry, shady areas of your landscape. I planted pink ones (purchased from Rooted In) in early spring of this year, and they already look fabulous in an area that gets no irrigation. (See below.)
  • Wright's Skullcap: A low-growing perennial that thrives in well-drained soil and is extremely heat and drought-tolerant, Purple Skullcap is the perfect plant for unforgiving locations in your garden.
  • Gregg's Mistflower: For an irresistible butterfly magnet, you can’t beat Gregg’s Mistflower. The blooms are stunning in late summer and early fall. A favorite of monarch and queen butterflies. Plus, it fills in quickly. Great for large areas.
